National Mathematics Day 2021

Today we celebrate National Mathematics Day, a day to recognize the importance of mathematics and the contributions that women have made to the field. As women, we know that mathematics is one of the most challenging and rewarding fields we can choose. But when women are underrepresented in the field, it limits our potential and our ability to make an impact on the world. That is why it is more important than ever for women to study, engage, and support one another in the field of mathematics.

UNESCO in 2006?

Today, on the 22nd of December, the World Mathematical Year celebrates the role of Women in Mathematics Month, as designated by UNESCO in 2006. We call on all those who support women in mathematics to consider doing the f

ollowing things to celebrate this important anniversary:

- Organize a math celebration with your family, friends, or co-workers.

This can be as simple as making origami creatures out of dough and solving math problems together, or as complex as a formal celebration complete with a speaker, games, and prizes. The key is to make the celebration fun, engaging, and supportive of one another's interests and abilities.

Take time to recognize the important women in your life who inspire you to follow your dreams and chase your ambitions. Meet other women who share a passion for mathematics and build a community of support around you. Challenge yourself to do something that you have never done before; pursue a new career, volunteer opportunity, or leadership role. Use your voice to encourage others to pursue their mathematical goals and never be afraid to ask for what you want in life, both personally and professionally.

– Attend a women in mathematics event or lecture.

Women in mathematics events provide a great opportunity to network with other women in the field and learn about the latest research and breakthroughs in the field. You can find a schedule of events on the World Congress of Mathematics website. Also check out the new series of videos called A Woman in Mathematics on the MAA website, which feature female mathematicians discussing their work and their experiences in the field.

Support women in your field by mentoring them, introducing them to opportunities you have experienced, and advocating for them. The mentoring and professional development of women in mathematics is essential to their success. Mentors can provide a critical connection to the field, introducing women to opportunities and providing feedback as they progress. When women have access to role models, opportunities increase, and their success is contagious.

Ramanujan The story of Srinivasa Ramanujan is a story of the power of mentorship. At a time when women in mathematics were few and far between, Ramanujan rose to the occasion and became one of the greatest female mathematicians in history. Through his friendship with the famous logician and mathematician G.H. Hardy, Ramanujan was introduced to some of the most prestigious academic positions and conferences in the world. This exposure allowed him to build relationships with other women in mathematics, which in turn inspired him to pursue his own research and achieve even greater success.

Public Mathematics Day 2021:

It is seen on 22 December consistently to stamp the birth commemoration of incredible Indian Mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan. The day perceives and commends his works. On this day, the virtuoso mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan was brought into the world in 1887 to a Tamil Brahmin Iyengar family at Erode, Tamil Nadu.

How is National Mathematics Day celebrated?

Public Mathematics Day is praised in different schools, schools, colleges, and instructive foundations in India. Indeed, even the International Society UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) and India had consented to cooperate to spread science learning and comprehension. Alongside this, different advances were taken to instruct the understudies in arithmetic and spread information to the understudies and students all around the world.NASI (The National Academy of Science India) is the most established science foundation arranged in Allahabad.

To observe National Mathematics Day, NASI conducts a studio in utilizations of Mathematics and Ramanujan. The studio is gone to by well known speakers and specialists in the field of arithmetic from the country over. Speakers at the nation and world level talk about Srinivasa Ramanujan's commitment to mathematics. The two days studio on the point 'History of Indian Maths before sixteenth Century' was coordinated during 30-31 December, 2019 at the NASI base camp at Prayagraj.

Conversation in the studio covered the underneath referenced themes:

  • - Indian Contribution during Vedic Period
  • - Indian Contribution during Classical period
  • - Indian Contribution during the middle age time frame.

Every one of the territories of India observe National Mathematics Day in various ways. Different contests and numerical tests are directed at schools, universities, and colleges. Science ability and understudies from everywhere India take an interest in these projects and studios.

About Srinivasa Ramanujan and his commitments in Mathematics

Srinivasa Ramanujan was brought into the world on 22 December 1887, Erode, India, and kicked the bucket on 26 April 1920 at Kumbakonam. His family was of the Brahmin rank and lived in neediness. At 12 years old, he had acquired information in Trignometry and without anybody's assistance, he had fostered his own hypotheses and thoughts. Do you have at least some idea that at 15 years old just he acquired a duplicate of George Shoobridge Carr's Synopsis of Elementary Results in Pure and Applied Mathematics?

He had spent his youth days in incredible trouble in destitution. He used to acquire books and read books from companions in school. At the point when he was youthful, he took up the gig of a representative to meet the financial requirements of the house, and when he gets time he used to settle science questions and chipped away at different kinds of hypotheses. Once, an Englishman saw those pages, he was dazzled and took an individual interest. He sends Srinivasa Ramanujan to Hardy, the Professor of Oxford University. He then, at that point, perceived the ability concealed in him and from there on he got distinction around the world.

His papers were distributed in the Journal of the Indian Mathematical Society in 1911. He had accumulated around 3900 outcomes mostly personalities and conditions that excessively all alone without anybody's help. A few outcomes out of them are unique and novel like the Ramanujan prime, The Ramanujan theta work, parcel formulae, and counterfeit theta capacities. These outcomes further enlivened a few other examination and opened new fields of work. He found his hypothesis of dissimilar series, worked out the Riemann series, the elliptic integrals, hypergeometric series, and the useful conditions of the zeta work. Allow us to let you know that the number 1729 is known as the Hardy-Ramanujan number.

So presently we come to realize that National Mathematics Day is commended on 22 December consistently to spread mindfulness about the significance of science and the commitments made by the researcher of arithmetic Srinivasa Ramanujan. The public authority of India chose in 2012 to observe National Mathematics Day on 22 December on the birth commemoration of Srinivasa Ramanujan. From that point forward it was praised on 22 December consistently.

National Mathematics Day quotes

"It’s a fact: Math is fun. And on National Mathematics Day, teachers across the country are bringing the fun to their classrooms. The goal is to help students discover the joy of numbers, whether it’s through puzzles, games, or even a rap song about the laws of probability. In some schools, students have even been invited to write their own math poems." "

Today is National Mathematics Day!  In honor of this day, we wanted to share some of our favorite quotes about math. In a world where math is often trivialized or even demonized, it’s important to take a moment  to appreciate the importance of math in our lives and the lives of our children.

“Mathematics is the only subject where you can prove something without knowing what it means.” — John F. Kennedy

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” — Nelson Mandela

“Mathematics is the language of nature.” – Galileo Galilei

Mathematics for a Better World

importance of Mathematics for a Better World?

Mathematics is an important topic, and it’s one that’s often difficult to understand. We use math to solve problems, to make decisions, and to understand the world around us. But how do we know which math skills are most important? Where do we find the best instruction, so that we can all become better at math?

We all need to be able to use math in our daily lives. Whether you’re buying a birthday gift for someone, scheduling a babysitter, or planning a vacation, you’ll need to be comfortable with basic arithmetic. But beyond the basics, there are a wide variety of topics that require mathematical understanding, including: financial planning, health care, the environment, and more. It’s important to be able to use math in these areas, because math is a key to a better, more secure future.
